If you spend all day moving pallets back and forth, you know the importance of proper equipment. Hangcha electric pallet stackers make it easy to lift, stack, and move loads for you, without wearing you out.
Unlike a typical pallet jack that only rolls loads on the floor, a pallet stacker can actually lift pallets onto shelving or racking – or stack them on top of each other. And if it’s electric, there’s no pumping, no heavy lifting, it’s just push the button and let the machine do all the work. Most Powered Pallet Stackers have electric lift and drive to make it even easier and safer for the operators to lift and move up to 4000 lbs!
In this article, we will break down what pallet stackers are, how they differ from pallet jacks, and how you can operate them safely in the workplace. We’ll explain to you why Hangcha electric pallet stackers from Ri-Go Lift Truck are worth the investment in your shop floor or warehouse.

Hangcha Electric Pallet Stackers
1. What Is a Pallet Stacker?
A Step Up from a Pallet Jack

A pallet stacker gives more lifting capacity without the space required for a full-sized forklift.
A pallet stacker is an electric or manual machine that helps you lift, move, and stack pallets. While a standard pallet jack just moves pallets around the floor, a stacker will also lift pallets up and down, so you can put them on shelving, racks, or tight storage spaces.
More Than Just Moving
A pallet jack will only lift a load a few inches off the ground, so you can roll it to another location. These are excellent for moving goods around the facility or to facilitate shipping and receiving – but if you need to stack pallets on top of each other – or put them into racking systems – Power Pallet or Manual Pallet trucks will not be able to help with this.
A pallet stacker on the other hand can also move pallets around the facility, but it also lifts the load up, usually several feet high (up to 185″ usually), so you can stack pallets or fill racking in a safe and efficient way.
Where It Works Best
Pallet stackers work well in the following situations:
- Warehouses that don’t have much room to store pallets
- Retail stockrooms that have low headroom and narrow aisles
- Shipping and receiving docks where lifting, storing, or preparing product in a rush is necessary
When working with close spaces or frequent stacking, a pallet stacker gives more lifting capacity without the space (and budget) required for a full-sized forklift. Most Powered stackers cost approximately a quarter of the cost of a forklift truck. Stackers are manual or electric only and are generally good for concrete flat floors – indoors only.
2. Electric vs. Manual Pallet Stackers
Manual Stackers: Budget-Friendly but More Work

Hangcha electric pallet stackers are battery-driven and all the hard work is done for you.
Manual pallet stackers work like a heavy-duty jack. You either have to pump the handle to lift the load, or there are manual “push” stackers that have a battery for Lift only….you still have to push it and pull it around similar to a hand pump truck or manual pallet jack. It DOES take physical effort to move the pallets. These are more affordable up front, so they’re a good choice if you’re working with a tight budget or only moving light loads once in a while.
But for heavy use or constant lifting, manual stackers will wear out your staff.
Electric Stackers: Powered and Practical
Hangcha electric pallet stackers are battery-driven and have powered lift so all the hard work is done for you. Just press a button to raise the load and utilize simple controls to guide it into position. No pumping, no exertion; just clean, smooth operation. Faster and more safe and productive.
Why Go Electric?
Less Fatigue for Operators
Electric stackers reduce body stress, especially for long shifts. Your team is comfortable and operates more efficiently and productively with no emissions concerns. Most of these powered stackers are charged with simple 110V power chargers so no electrical set up is required.
Greater Lifting Ability
Electric units typically move heavier weights and elevate them higher, so they’re ideal for stacking in racking or in tight warehouse layouts.
Ideal for High Usage
If your team is working with pallets all day, electric stackers save time and effort—no more straining your shoulders or back from manual lifting.
Easier to Operate
With improved speed and lifting control, electric stackers minimize accidents and make handling loads much safer.
If you operate a busy warehouse or have a lot of stacking, an electric stacker is money well spent. And with Hangcha, you’re not getting the expensive price tag either.
3. Lithium-ion vs Lead-acid Battery Pallet Stackers
What’s the Difference?

Lithium-ion batteries cost more initially but last longer.
Electric pallet stackers have either a lead-acid or lithium-ion battery. Both do the job, but they are built differently and offer varying benefits depending on how often and how much you operate your machinery.
Upfront Cost vs. Long-Term Value
Lead-acid batteries are cheaper to buy initially, which is why they are popular for light or infrequent use. They do require regular watering and cleaning and they do usually need to be replaced approximately twice as often as a Lithium battery.
Lithium-ion batteries cost more initially but last longer, charge faster, and require less servicing and maintenance, so in the long term, they tend to cost less to maintain and to own. Lithium batteries might come with 5 times the warranty vs Lead Acid small batteries!*
Charging and Maintenance
Lead-acid batteries are slower to charge vs Lithium (maybe 6-8 hours) and they also need to be watered every so often (weekly generally) and have to be charged in well-ventilated areas.
Lithium-ion batteries charge within 1 to 2 hours, can be opportunity-charged during a break, and don’t need water or special rooms. They’re just easier to handle, safer, last longer and charge faster. They are ideal for almost every application especially in a busy workplace.
Environmental Impact
Lithium-ion is the eco-friendly option because there is no danger of acid spills, no gassing during a charge cycle and are far more energy-efficient.
Lead-acid batteries have dangerous materials inside and need to be handled and disposed of carefully so as not to leak or contaminate the environment.
Which One’s Right for You?
If your operation only needs pallet stackers on a part-time basis or is budget-constrained, lead-acid may suffice. But if you’re operating your stackers full-time, round-the-clock, and prefer fewer breakdowns and maintenance, lithium-ion is the choice.
Both options, including Hangcha electric stackers featuring innovative lithium-ion technology, are available from Ri-Go Lift Truck in Canada.
4. How to Use Electric Pallet Stackers Effectively
Start with a Pre-Operation Inspection

Always position the load in the center of the forks to stabilize the stacker.
Before using an electric pallet stacker, inspect the machine carefully. Make sure the battery is charged, brakes are working properly, forks are okay, and controls are in proper working condition. Inspect for worn-out components, loose components, or damages that could affect performance or safety.
Operate Loads Correctly
Always position the load in the center of the forks to stabilize the stacker. Never lift above the machine’s weight capacity, and make sure your pallets are solid and in good condition. Loose packaging or damaged boards can result in loads being dropped and individuals harmed.
Stay Aware of Your Surroundings
Keep your vision forward and your path of travel clear if operating a stacker. Avoid sharp corners, inclines, or cluttered areas. Always be aware of co-workers and people on foot, especially in busy warehouses or shared work areas.
Charge and Maintain Safely
Follow standard charging practices for your battery type: lithium-ion or lead-acid. Follow regular maintenance checks to keep the machine running at its best. A properly maintained stacker not only saves lives but also runs better.
Provide Proper Training
Electric pallet stackers may seem simple, yet they still require skill and concentration. Make sure every operator has proper training in order to reduce accidents and make sure everyone knows how to use the equipment properly.
Tip: Here at Ri-Go Lift Truck, we can help you pick the perfect stacker and provide training and maintenance support to keep your employees safe and productive.
